Wife of President of the Senate Unoma Akpabio has filed multiple lawsuits against Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan at the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, over alleged defamation and violation of her fundamental human rights.
The lawsuits stem from statements made by Akpoti-Uduaghan during a television interview, which Akpabio claims were defamatory and infringed on her rights.
In the first case (Suit No: CV/814/25), Akpabio alleges that the senator’s remarks caused emotional trauma to her and her children, leaving them in constant fear for their safety.
She is seeking a court declaration that the statements violated her right to dignity under the Nigerian Constitution and the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights.

She is also demanding N250 billion in damages and a perpetual injunction preventing Akpoti-Uduaghan from making further “inciteful, scandalous, and spiteful” statements against her.
In a separate defamation suit (Suit No: CV/816/25), Akpabio is challenging Akpoti-Uduaghan’s claim that her husband made sexual advances toward her.
She describes the allegations as false, malicious, and damaging to her family’s reputation, leading to public ridicule and disgrace.
As part of her demands, Akpabio is asking the court to compel Akpoti-Uduaghan to publish a public apology in two national newspapers, The Guardian and ThisDay, and to pay N1 billion in damages.
The matter is yet to be assigned to a Judge.
