About 48 hours after a petrol tanker fell and caused an explosion that claimed 98 lives, with 68 others injured, at the Dikko junction in Gurara Local Government Area of Niger State, another Tanker has fallen in the Bida Local Government Area of same State.
An eyewitness confirmed that the tanker which fell opposite a filing station, just similar to the Dikko junction accident, was however empty of petrol products at the time, but loaded with groundnut oil cans on the top of the tank.
It was also gathered that residents were as usual busy scooping the groundnut oil, throwing safety caution to the wind.
The Director General of the Niger State Emergency Management Agency (NSEMA), has confirmed to ait.live that the death toll from the Dikko junction accident still stands at 98, with 69 others hospitalised.
