Nigeria’s ruling party, the All Progressives Congress, APC has dismissed the recent visit of a group of opposition figures led by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to the Kaduna home of former President Muhammadu Buhari as inconsequential.
Atiku who was the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP presidential candidate in the 2023 elections was accompanied on the visit by former Kaduna Governor, Nasir El-Rufai and one-time Speaker of the House of Representatives and serving Senator, Aminu Tambuwal among other prominent politicians.
Several other Governors were on the entourage of Atiku who described their meeting with former President Buhari as “post-sallah visit.

As if underlining the political relevance of Buhari, the National Chairman of the APC Abdullahi Ganduje and members of the party’s National Working Committee were also at Buhari’s home. He described the visit of the Atiku led coalition as “a venture that will not work” saying they are particles that can not work together.
Ganduje says APC will not reveal its strategies to tackle the coalition that is building up for the 2027 election but assured that they are equal to the task.
According to Ganduje, the APC is comfortable with its fair share of control in the states but will not hesitate to win more states into the party fold.
