The Nigerian Army has emphasised that the Lieutenant to Captain Practical Promotion Examination is designed to assess junior officers’ leadership, tactical skills and resource management at the company level.
Commander of Training and Doctrine Command, Major General Kelvin Aligbe, who serves as the Examination President, made this known at the 2025 Lieutenant to Captain promotion examination in Kaduna.
A total of 208 junior officers are undergoing the rigorous assessment as they seek promotion from Lieutenant to Captain in the Nigerian Army.
The examination is a crucial milestone in their military careers, demanding hard work, discipline, courage and exemplary conduct.
Its objectives include enhancing military knowledge, assisting in career planning and testing physical fitness, ensuring that only the best candidates advance.
Major General Kelvin Aligbe, urged the candidates to remain focused, disciplined and confident, through the process.
He assured them that the examination would be transparent and fair, but reinforced the Army’s zero-tolerance policy on examination misconduct.
