Suspected bandits launched an attack on Abaji town in Katsina-Ala Local Government Area around 4:30 p.m., firing sporadically to cause panic.
Troops of Operation Whirl Stroke, alongside personnel from the Police and the Benue State Civil Protection Guard, swiftly responded and repelled the attack.
The bandits fled upon the arrival of the combined security forces, preventing further destruction.
Unfortunately, before security operatives arrived, two women were shot by the attackers.
One of the victims, identified as Iveren Titus, died at the scene, while the second woman is currently receiving treatment at NkST Hospital in Abaji.
Security forces have launched a massive manhunt for the fleeing suspects, combing the surrounding areas to apprehend them.
