Bayelsa Gov Reaffirms Support For Sports In The State

Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri has again reaffirmed his unwavering support for sports as the state emerged overall winner of the 3rd Governor Douye Diri National Wrestling Classics after one week of competition at the indoor hall of the Samson Siasia Stadium in Yenagoa.

Bayelsa state dominated the competition, clinching victories in the Greco-Roman, Women’s Freestyle, and men’s freestyle categories of the championship.

Governor Douye Diri sent a message to his counterparts across the country, noting that, money invested in sports is not wasted.

In their Goodwill messages, the Comptroller General Nigeria Customs Service, Adewale Adeniyi and Chief of Defence Staff, General Musa Christopher, represented by the Commander Joint Task Force JTF  South South zone, Rear Admiral John Okeke, hailed the governor for investing in youths.

The highpoint of the programme was the presentation of awards to the winners, the various sponsors and those who have contributed to the progress of sports in the country.
