Benue Assembly refutes purported removal of Chief Judge

Members of the Benue State House of Assembly have debunked the purported removal of the Benue State Chief Judge, Justice Maurice Ikpambese, by the House.
The members clarified that in a House of 32 members, 13 voted against the suspension, while one member (Hon. Peter Uche, Member Representing Guma 1 State Constituency) was absent, and the Speaker, Hon. Aondona Dajoh, abstained from voting.
They emphasized that the purported suspension lacks the required two-thirds majority support, as it did not meet the constitutional threshold for such a decision.
They made this clarification on Tuesday immediately after plenary at the Assembly.
The 13 members reaffirmed their commitment to due process and the rule of law, urging the public to disregard misinformation about the Chief Judge’s suspension.
The 13 Benue State Assembly members include Hon. Douglas Akya, Member Representing Makurdi South; Hon. Jonathan Agbidye, Member Representing Katsina-Ala East State Constituency; Hon. Pastor Onah Blessed Emmanuel, Member Representing Oju 1 State Constituency; Hon. Anyor Mato, Member Representing Kwande East State Constituency; and Hon. Elias Audu, Member Representing Gwer State Constituency, among others.
