Blind Association Urges Bauchi Government To Provide Employment For Members

The Nigeria Association of the Blind (NAB) has made a case for their members in Bauchi state, urging the state Government to provide employment, pay gratuity to those who retired from service, and as well appoint a Special Adviser on persons with special needs in Bauchi state.

The leadership of the Association made their case during a celebration of world international white cane day in Bauchi.

It was a gathering of the Nigeria Association of visually impaired persons to commemorate the white cane day Celebrated globally, they chose Bauchi as a venue for the 2024 celebration in Nigeria.

For them white cane is not just a cane for navigating roads but a symbol of independence and resilience, calling on the members of the general public to take note whenever they see anyone with the cane seeking assistance, especially in road crossing.

In the spirit of oneness, the National Body of the Association made the important requests for their members in Bauchi state.

The events had in attendance Traditional rulers, Bauchi Governor’s wife Aisha Bala represented by the wife of the Secretary to the Bauchi State Government Habiba Kasim as the Governor’s wife was given an award by the association for her unwavering support for over twenty thousand visually impaired persons in Bauchi state.

The theme for the 2024 International White Cane Day Celebration was Empowering the Visually Impaired through Inclusion and Accessibility.
