Borussia Dortmund Sack Coach Nuri Sahin After Four Game Losing Streak

Borussia Dortmund have sacked head coach Nuri Sahin after Tuesday’s 2-1 Champions League loss to Bologna, saying they have lost faith in the young manager.

Dortmund were Finalists in the Champions League last season, and have lost four games in a row in all competitions.

Borussia Dortmund said in statement on Wednesday that it had decided to part ways with their head coach following their fourth defeat in their fourth match of 2025,

In the Bundesliga, Dortmund are 10th, 20 points behind leaders Bayern Munich.

Sahin was assistant to former Dortmund coach Edin Terzic in last season’s surprise run to the Champions League final where they lost to Real Madrid and was promoted to head coach in the summer..

Dortmund’s managing director Lars Ricken said the decision is painful but was unavoidable after the game in Bologna.

Dortmund, who will host Werder Bremen in the league on Saturday, are yet to name a successor for the coach.

Reports suggest that former Manchester United boss Erik Ten Hag, who has been watching Dortmund games recently, or one-time Benfica and Bayer Leverkusen manager Roger Schmidt would likely Succeed.Nuri Sahin
