Chinese University, Partner VON, On Exchange Program, Fighting Fake News

Chinese scholars and students from Tsinghua University, led by Professor Zhou Qingan, paid a courtesy visit to the Director General of Voice of Nigeria in Abuja

The meeting focused on exploring opportunities for exchange programs and strengthening bilateral relationships between Nigeria and China.

Nigeria and China have over the years maintained a strong and cordial relationship with significant investments in various sectors, especially on infrastructure development.

The visit by the Chinese scholars and students from Tsinghua university might be one of the strategies to deepen the relationship between the two countries.

Addressing the meeting, the leader of the team, professor Zhou Qingan emphasised the need for media exchange and content sharing.

The Director General of Voice Of Nigeria, Jibrin Baba-Ndache explained the importance of direct communication between the two countries without relying on Western media, which he said has often shaped negative narratives about Nigeria.

Both parties agreed that the bilateral relationships between Nigeria and China will be of great importance to both countries, especially as Voice Of Nigeria is set to begin broadcast in Mandarin language.
