Collaboration key to sustaining peace, security in communities – Group

An International Non Governmental Organization, NGO, Search for Common Ground, SCG has said collaboration between community members, security agencies, traditional institution and the media can enhance peace and security.
Speaking during a 3 Day training on Common Ground Journalism and Conflict Sensitive Reporting for journalists in Kebbi State, the Resources person, Temisan Etietsola said collaboration strengthens the capacity of community members and others to promote peace and security.
“Though sometimes, there are challenges of collaboration between the security agencies. Sometimes, even the security agencies work separately”, he added.
“Search Common Ground is committed to creating enabling environment where journalists can operate very freely without harassment”
“So we have to start a transformation process to report better. That is our common approach to dealing with some sensitive issues”
“When we find ourselves in a conflict, identification can be a separation or connector”
