A major crisis is brewing in the Zamfara State House Of Assembly following the declaration of the seat of the Majority Leader of the State’s legislative arm Aliyu Ango Kagara vacant last Tuesday.
Ten out of the 24-member Assembly who addressed journalists in Abuja on Friday said the declaration of Kagara’s seat vacant was illegal as it did not follow due process.
The dissenting members of the Assembly noted that the leadership of the house had allegedly been prompted by the state Governor to suspend eight of them.
Spokesperson for the Zamfara Aggrieved ten members of the house of Assembly Nasiru Abdullahi Maru said all laws passed by the remaining 14 members including the 2025 Appropriation that is awaiting consideration remain illegal.
The group called on the National Assembly, security agencies and other stakeholders to advise the present leadership of the Assembly to desist from what it termed as illegality.
