The Cross River State Commissioner for Arts and Culture, Abubakar Ewa, has died at the age of 61, shortly after attending the first executive council meeting presided over by Governor Bassey Otu on Wednesday.
Ewa was said to have died at a private health facility in Calabar after reportedly complaining of a headache.
A seasoned administrator and public servant, Ewa had a distinguished career in various capacities before his appointment as Commissioner for Arts, Culture, and Tourism.
He previously served as Secretary and later Chairman of Boki Local Government Area.
His death is a great loss to the state’s cultural and administrative landscape.
