Death Toll Rises to 158, Additional 5 Bodies Recovered in Mokwa Flood Disaster

The Acting Director General of the Niger State Emergency Management Agency (NSEMA), Ibrahim Hussaini has confirmed the recovery of an additional 5 bodies in the Mokwa flood.

This has brought to the total of 158 bodies so far recovered and buried.

According to him, 4 bodies were recovered yesterday evening, June 2, while 1 was recovered early June 3.

Hussaini noted that there was a delay in the release of the information as officials of NSEMA went for verification at the burial sites.

A statement released on Tuesday afternoon stated that the latest update was confirmed alongside Sarkin Hausawa Mokwa and verified by the State Emergency Management Agency (NSEMA), the National Emergency Management Agency, (NEMA), the International Organization for Migration and the Red Cross Society.
