Edo State Govt ratifies suspension of over 70 Enigie for cultural coup

Edo State government has ratified the suspension of over 70 Enigie in Benin Kingdom. Their suspended by the Benin Monarch, Oba Ewuare II, was due to anti-palace and rebellious activities against the Oba and the traditional institution.

The ratification was made during a State Executive Council meeting held on Tuesday at the Government House in Benin City.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the Commissioner for Information and Communication, briefed journalists, describing the actions of the suspended Enigie as a cultural “coup d’état”.

The cabinet also approved the request for the payment of furniture allowances and outstanding entitlements to political and public office holders.
