Edo State Police Arrests Armed Robbery Suspect

The Edo state police command has arrested one armed robbery Suspect John Abraham in connection with a stolen vehicle where the owner, an Uber driver was killed in Lagos State last week.

This was contained in a press release signed by the command’s public relations officer Joel Yamu on Sunday.

According to the statement, the arrest was made possible during a successful joint operation by operatives of Safer Highway and Okpella Division of the Nigeria police force which resulted in the recovery of a stolen silver colored Toyota Camry with registration number BDG 17 JK.

After a search of the vehicle, one AK47 rifle and one magazine with eighteen rounds of ammunition were found concealed inside the vehicle’s engine compartment.

However, the driver of the vehicle later identified as “Ahua” or “Soldier” whose real name is unknown escaped from arrest, leaving the suspect in custody John Ochekwu Abraham in the vehicle.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects snatched the said vehicle at gunpoint in Lagos on October 11, 2024, resulting to the death of the Uber driver, Usman Umaru.

The command has commended the swift response of its operatives and appreciates the public’s continued support in combating crime.
