EFCC declares foreign national wanted over alleged CBEX scam

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has declared 41-year-old Elie Bitar, a foreign national, wanted in connection with a cryptocurrency fraud allegedly executed through the online trading platform, Crypto Bridge Exchange (CBEX). The EFCC stated that Bitar is being sought for his alleged role in a fraudulent scheme that exploited the CBEX platform to swindle unsuspecting investors across Nigeria. The statement reads: “The public is hereby notified that ELIE BITAR, whose photograph appears above, is wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for fraud allegedly perpetrated on an online trading platform called Crypto Bridge Exchange (CBEX).”  The EFCCs investigation into CBEX has reportedly uncovered a trail of transactions linked to Bitar and individuals, some of whom have been arrested. The Commission has revealed Bitars last known address to be “Eng. George Enemoh Crescent, Lekki Phase 1, Lekki, Lagos State”. The commission urged anyone with information on his whereabouts to visit any of its zonal offices in Ibadan, Uyo, Sokoto, Maiduguri, Benin, Makurdi, Kaduna, Ilorin, Enugu, Kano, Lagos, Gombe, Port Harcourt, or Abuja. Earlier in April, the digital asset trading platform collapsed” and subsequently swept over N1.3 trillion from investors wallets, leaving many Nigerians devastated.  The post EFCC declares foreign national wanted over alleged CBEX scam appeared first on Linda Ikeji Blog.
