FG Calls For Collaboration In Fight Against Sexual, Gender-Based Violence

The Attorney General of the Federation Lateef Fagbemi has called for interagency coordination and collaboration to strengthen the fight against Sexual and Gender-based violence

He made the call at the 10th Network Conference of Sexual Assault Referral Centres in Abuja

The European Union is committed to the arrest of Sexual and Gender Based Violence.

Towards achieving this arduous task, the Ministry of Justice says it has made progress in achieving access to justice for survivors of SGVB by building the capacity of judges, strengthening the institutional framework and other strategic interventions towards checking the social malaise.

Professor Fatima Waziri-Azi says poverty has further escalated cases of SGBV as she raises a need for more shelters for survivors

There are currently 47 Sexual Assault Referral Centres in 22 states of Nigeria and FCT, which provides free medical, counselling, and support services to survivors of sexual violence
