The Nigerian government will no longer tolerate acts capable of abusing the rights of persons with disability, especially at the workplace.
The warning was laid down by the Minister of Labour and Employment, Muhammadu Dingyadi during a road show, in further advocacy to sensitise citizens, especially informal workers on disability rights.
The minister who was represented by Director, Social Security and Cooperative Development, Franca Adiekweh said the road show was also aimed at encouraging citizens to defend and protect the rights of persons with disability, either in formal or informal setting.

Executive Secretary of National Commission for Persons with Disability, Ayuba Gufwa, who joined the road show narrated cases of increased violation of the disability rights, especially in the informal setting, while calling on the National Assembly to review the act establishing the agency for stiffer penalties for violators.
Gufwa said every year, more people join the community of persons with disabilities due to accidents, health conditions, and age, and called for increased care for the community
The road show was part of activities to mark the 2024 international day for persons with disabilities.
