Five killed in Warri boat mishap

Five persons have been killed and six others sustained injuries after a passenger boat capsized along Bennett island in Warri South Local Government Area of Delta state, late Monday night.

The Delta state police command public relations officer, Bright Edafe who confirmed the incident in a statement said details of the boat’s direction still remain unclear.

He confirmed nineteen persons were rescued and one person unaccounted for.

The injured passengers are receiving medical attention at the Warri Central Hospital while the bodies of the deceased have been deposited at the morgue.

The statement also said that investigation has commenced already to unravel the cause of the accident.
