Four Dead, 13 Injured In Ghastly Truck Accident In Niger State

Another tragic road crash involving 3 trucks has occurred on Agaie-Lapai road in Agaie local government area of Niger state, claiming 4 lives and severely injuring 13 others on the ever-busy highway.

According to the Director General of the Niger State Emergency Management Agency, NSEMA, Abdullahi Baba-Arah,the accident, occurred on February 3 around Al’Farma International School Agaie.

It was gathered that the accident involving 3 trucks loaded with cattle and humans, while another loaded with goods, was attributed to wrong overtaking, ending up in a fatal head-on collision.

According to the report by the agency spokesman, Hussaini Ibrahim, two people died on the spot, while two others died at the hospital.

The statement further added that about 15 cattle died along with more than 20 goats with the agency through its Agaie desk officer and some volunteers undertook the rescue operations.

The ever-busy Agaie-Lapai highway has been in the news for several fatal road crashes in the recent past; the severe one was the September 2024 tanker explosion that killed about 100 persons, also attributed to dangerous overtaking and bad roads.
