FUPRE gets new VC, Prof Ezekiel Oghenenyerhovwo Agbalagba

The Federal University of Petroleum Resources, FUPRE, has a new Vice Chancellor in the person of Prof. Ezekiel Oghenenyerhovwo Agbalagba, a professor of environment and radiation physics.
Pro-Chancellor of the University, Engr. Issa Gachi Bello announced the appointment at a press briefing on Friday.
He said 39 candidates were shortlisted and interviewed but Agbalagba was picked on merit based on his academic experience and leadership qualities.
The incoming VC who is from Agbarha-Otor Community, Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State, will take over from the outgoing Vice Chancellor, Prof. Akpofure Rim-Ruke, an environmentalist.
Akpofure’s tenure will elapse May 4.
Speaking at the press briefing, Akpofure said he was highly elated because the selection was a seamless transition.
The new vice chancellor is married with children.
