Gombe Erosion : House Committee Commends State Government For Tackling Ecological Challenges

Members of the House Committee on Ecological Fund has commended the Gombe state government on proactive efforts in addressing ecological challenges in the state despite limited funds available

Chairman of the committee Hon Aminu Sani Jaji who toured the affected ecological sites with members disclosed that Gombe state has been selected as the pilot state for ecological fund for environmental challenges.

Gombe state, sitting on the plains of the savannah has been at the center of erosion activities, from the state capital to all parts of the state, it has been a scene of erosion affecting the infrastructure and development of the state.

This is part of the assignment for the house committee for ecological fund seeking to understand the level of degradation of the environment and the efforts to rehabilitate areas affected.

The committee then paid a courtesy call to the state governor stating their assignment, the governor in return shared his thoughts on the issues

Indeed, the state of degradation of the environment remains a collective assignment for the nation’s parliament and the state government as the hope for development for these areas remains in the horizon
