Gov. Lawal and His Wife Praise Conduct of LG Poll In Zamfara

Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal has described Saturday’s Local Government election in the fourteen Local Government Areas of the State as orderly, peaceful and transparent.

The Governor said this in Gusau, the Zamfara State capital, shortly after he and his wife, Hurriya cast their votes at the Polling unit 001, Madawaki Ward in Gusau LGA.

They appealed to the electorate to conduct themselves peacefully throughout the exercise.

Governor Lawal said he was satisfied with the conduct of the election, noting that the election is a democratic process, which will impact sustainable development at the grassroots.

The wife of the Governor urged the people, especially women to be patient, remain calm and exercise their franchise as the conduct of the local council poll will bring development to them at the grassroots.

An election observer also commended the State Independent Electoral Commission (ZASIEC) for the smooth conduct of the poll, saying that it was designed to promote democracy.

There was a low turnout of voters for the election and out of the eighteen political parties, the All Progressives Congress (APC), did not participate in the election.
