Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia has called on the Federal Government to make a legislation to prohibit open grazing and promote the establishment of ranches nationwide as a solution to the security challenges posed by herdsmen attacks.
The Governor made the call in Makurdi the State capital while declaring open the Benue Livestock Summit 2025.
Alia said the event marked a formal launch of a strategic partnership between the State Government and key global livestock development stakeholders.

In his key note address Minister of livestock development Idi-Mukhtar Maiha asked the State Government to allow the development of grazing routes and reserves in the state tate.
Participants of the 2 day summit were drawn from the farming populace, pastoralist, civil society as well as policy makers.
