Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris has vowed to sign the de@th warrant of any convicted informant aiding bandits within 24 hours of conviction. The governor disclosed this during a condolence visit to Zogirma community in Bunza Local Government Area, where Lakurawa k!lled three police officers in a recent attack. Governor Idris condemned all informants collaborating with criminal elements for petty gain, stating, “They deserve capital punishment and should not live among us. I will not hesitate to sign their de@th warrant. I do not support life imprisonment for such individuals. He assured his administration will ensure a law prescribing the de@th penalty for informants aiding banditry in the state is enacted. Governor Idris also pledged to deploy more security personnel to vulnerable areas to ensure security. We will do everything humanly possible to ensure our citizens sleep with both eyes closed. Security remains our top priority, and we will not treat it with levity, Idris said. The three police officers were k!lled in a gun battle with Lakurawa members who attacked commuters on Zogirma/Tilli road on Friday, July 11.
