Imo Police Command renovates stations destroyed by unknown gunmen

The Imo State Police Command has begun renovation of some destroyed in attacks by criminal elements in some parts of the state.
In a statement on Monday, the spokesperson, DSP Henry Okoye says the move is in line with the continued effort of the Command to enhance security and improve police service delivery in the state.
He stated that the Commissioner of Police, CP Aboki Danjuma, has embarked on an inspection of key divisional headquarters that were seriously damaged in order to know the level of renovation that is required.
Okoye disclosed that the initiative to restore the damaged divisions is backed by Governor Hope Uzodinma.
According to the statement, on February 7, 2025, that the police commissioner, visited the Ihitte-Uboma (Etiti) Police Divisional Headquarters, which had suffered extensive damage in an attack by criminal elements.
During the visit, the commissioner conducted a comprehensive security assessment of the station and reviewed plans for its refurbishment to ensure full operational readiness upon completion.
Earlier, on February 6, 2025, the police commissioner, alongside Paschal Emeneze Obodo, a representative of the Agwa Central Union (ACU), inspected ongoing renovations at the Agwa and Izombe Police Divisional Headquarters.
The Command spokesperson hinted that works on the various formations are nearing completion, maintaining that plans are underway for the deployment of officers back to those divisions to reinforcing security presence in the areas.
“During these visits, CP Danjuma engaged with local stakeholders, vigilante groups, and community leaders, emphasizing the importance of synergy between the police, other security agencies, and community-based security outfits in tackling crime.
“He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to collaborative security efforts to ensure peace and stability across the state,” the statement added.
