Jos Residents React To Proposed New States

The proposal for the creation of 31 new states from the existing ones across the country is generating comments from a cross section of people in Jos the Plateau state capital.

Those who spoke to AIT expressed deep concern over the move, saying there are more important issues of national interest to attend to.

The residents are worried that the nation is still battling economic hardship and security concerns and therefore see the move by government as trying to divert the attention of citizens from the reality on ground.

Over the years there have been several agitations for creation of more states to achieve a balance and more development,and the latest is a proposal by the House of Representatives for creation of 31 new states across the country.
