Director General, Special Services Unit of the Kano State Government, Retired Air Vice Marshal Ibrahim Umar, says leaders of warring groups causing trouble in parts of the state have agreed to work under one umbrella to ensure the return of peace in insecurity prone local government areas..
Umar made this known after a high level meeting with the group leaders and security agencies in the state. He expressed gratitude to God Almighty that the thugs have realised that they are being used by politicians who want to cause mayhem in the state and also agreed to work with the present administration to ensure peace and security.
He said they also understood that troublemaking will not augur well for the socio-economic growth of the state. The retired Air Chief also described the recent violence that disrupted peace in the state as the result of the use of illicit drugs by youths in the state as well as the high level of unemployment. The leaders of warring thugs are from Kofar Mata, Yakasai, Zango and Fagge.AVM Umar assured the youths that the state government will foot the medical bills of those who sustained injuries during the violence.
He called on the opposition political party to stop what he described as ‘digging its grave’ by sponsoring violence, adding that 2027 is approaching and the electorate will only vote for a party that preaches peace, love and unity in the state.
