Kano: Violent gang clash rocks Samegu, ward head injured

A fight between suspected gang members broke out on Monday night in Gangar Ruwa area of Samegu, along Madobi Road in Kano.
An eyewitness told DAILY POST that the incident started after members of the gang accused personnel of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) of killing one of their members.
“The situation got worse quickly, with gunshots heard in the early hours of Tuesday as security operatives arrived to restore order,” the eyewitness revealed.
He also revealed that the ward head sustained injuries during his attempt to escape from the thugs.
Reports indicate several vehicles parked along the streets were damaged during the altercation.
Residents said the area is still not safe, as children could not go to school and many workers and traders stayed at home.
They urged for a more robust response from the security forces to prevent further violence.
DAILY POST tried to contact the Police Public Relations Officer in Kano, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, but he did not respond to calls.
