Kebbi State Governor’s Wife Joins 16 Days of Activism

The wife of Kebbi State Governor, Nafisa Idris has called for an end to all forms of violence, including Gender-based Violence against women.

She describes the campaign as positive and necessary.

She said Kebbi State has a lot of girls that are out of school despite the efforts of the government in education. 

Nafisa warned that global statistics on violence against women are alarming, as “nearly one in every three women world wide experiences physical or sexual violence in their lifetime.”

According to Nafisa, progress is being made in Kebbi State as the number of out-of-school children has drastically dropped, especially in urban areas, but significant numbers still remain in the rural areas.

She emphasised the significance of reporting cases of gender-based violence early as well as timely prosecution of offenders and providing immediate support to the victims.
