Kidnapped Edo traditional ruler rescued

The Onojie of Udo Eguare in Igueben Local Government Area of Edo State, His Royal Highness, Friday Ehizojie who was kidnapped about a week ago has been rescued.

A press release by the police Command’s Public Relations Officer, Joel Yamu says the determination by the Commissioner of police Betty Otimenyin to fight crime headlong saw to a rescue operation that yielded positive result on Friday evening.

The image maker extends the CP’s appreciation to the governor of the State Monday Okpebholo who rendered logistics support that contributed to the successful rescue and also to the vigilante, hunters and well meaning citizens who contributed to the rescue operation in their various capacities.

The Edo State Police Command is pleased to inform the general public that the sustained search and rescue operations have yielded positive results, the statement said.

The twenty one year old Onojie of Udo Eguare was allegedly kidnapped on the 3rd of February alongside others at a lonely part around the Community, while on a motorcycle he boarded for his journey to a neighbouring Community.

The lifeless body of a young man presumed to be that of the bike rider he boarded who was shot by suspected kidnappers was on the ground.

Yamu solicits the support and collaboration of the general public to help with useful information that will help apprehend criminals while assuring that the Command’s commitment to the fight against crime remained unshaken
