Lagos university sacks 3 lecturers over s3xual harassment

The management of Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH) has dismissed three lecturers over allegations of s3xual harassment.  The affected lecturers are Mr. Nurudeen Hassan from the Department of Mass Communication, and Mr. Kareem Arigbabu and Mr. Olayinka Uthman from the Department of Arts & Design. In a memo titled DISMISSAL OF STAFF MEMBERS DUE TO S3XUAL HARASSMENT ALLEGATIONS, the institution disclosed that the decision was reached after deliberations by the universitys Governing Council in accordance with Section 5.5.2(v) of the University Senior Staff Conditions of Service. The Governing Council of Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH) has taken decisive action in response to allegations of s3xual harassment involving three staff members. After a thorough investigation and deliberation, the council has approved the dismissal, the memo stated. This decision, which is effective immediately, is in accordance with Section 5.5.2(v) of the University Senior Staff Conditions of Service, it continued. The memo also reiterated LASUSTECHs commitment to curbing s3xual misconduct, saying, The university takes allegations of s3xual harassment seriously, as they compromise the institutions image and disrupt the academic environment. The Governing Councils decision reflects the universitys commitment to maintaining a safe and respectful campus community. Confirming the development, the institutions Public Relations Officer, Olanrewaju Kuye, said, It is true, the three of them were dismissed.
