Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, believes the rare alignment of this year’s Lenten season with the start of Ramadan for Muslims serves as a powerful call for peace, unity, and mutual understanding, particularly in Nigeria.
Governor Mbah shared his thoughts shortly after attending a Church service at the Enugu State Government House Chapel to mark Ash Wednesday, the official beginning of Lent for Christians.
He wants citizens, especially Christians, to embrace Lent as a period of repentance, reflection, and renewal, while carrying the spirit of the season beyond the forty-day observance.
Delivering the homily at the service, Reverend Father Anthony Udeh , explains the importance of the 40-day journey, noting that it symbolises a period of deep spiritual renewal and preparation.
The Ash Wednesday church service witnessed the Christian ritual of placement of the symbolic ash on the forehead of worshippers.
