National Grid Collapses For First Time In 2025, Leaving Nigerians In Darkness

Nigeria’s national grid experienced its first collapse of the year this Saturday, plunging millions of Nigerians into darkness.

According to data from the Nigerian System Operator’s portal, the collapse occurred at 1:56 pm.

This incident marks a continuation of the grid’s instability, which saw a record 12 collapses in 2024.

The cause of the latest failure has not been disclosed.

The grid collapse has sparked widespread disruptions to daily life, with businesses, hospitals, and residential areas affected.
