NGO calls for urgent rehabilitation of juvenile offenders in Anambra

The Anti-Kidnapping, Human Trafficking, Child Abuse and Drug Abuse Initiative (AKH-TRACADA), a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), has urged the Anambra State Government to take immediate steps to rehabilitate children involved in juvenile offenses.
The Executive Director of the NGO, Mr. Belonwu Ezeanyaeche, made the call in a statement on Wednesday in Abuja.
He was reacting to a viral video of nine children arrested for crimes including burglary, theft, drug abuse and robbery.
Ezeanyaeche attributed the rise in juvenile crime to factors such as broken homes, lack of parental guidance, peer pressure and drug abuse.
He emphasized that without intervention, these children could evolve into hardened criminals or recruits for militant and terrorist groups.
To curb this trend, he recommended a multi-faceted approach, including rehabilitation programs and vocational skills training.
