No fewer than 7 people have been confirmed dead while 11 people sustained various degree of injuries, with 5 others also sustaining minor injuries as a result of a truck accident on Agaie-Badeggi road in Katcha local government area of Niger State.
The Director General of the Niger State Emergency Management Agency, NSEMA, Abdullahi Baba-Arah confirming the incident in a statement by Spokesman of the agency, Ibrahim Hussaini said the truck accident occurred at Essa Community along Agaie -Badeggi Road at about 3am on Sunday, May 18.
The accident was attributed to a bad portion of the road that is yet to be fixed on the Lambata-Bida axis.
It was also confirmed that the truck was carrying federal government grains, and some passengers, numbering 36, all male, were heading to Kano from Lagos.
According to the statement, some of the injured were taken to Badeggi and Agaie health centres, and others were taken away by their colleagues, while most of the dead were also taken away by their relatives.
Search and rescue operations were carried out by NSEMA alongside commuters and some villagers near the scene of the incident.
