The Armed Forces of Nigeria say online reports alleging the arrival of the first contingent of French soldiers in Maiduguri, Borno State towards establishing a French Military base in North East Nigeria is totally false and mischievous.
A statement by the director defence media operations, Major General Edward Buba urged the public to disregard the speculations as they are the antics of mischief makers.
Buba recalled that the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa recently addressed the matter in different media forums.

The statement adds that the military will continue to carry out their constitutional responsibilities, most professionally and ensure the territorial integrity of the nation.
