Nigerians react to Buhari’s death

A cross-section of Nigerians on social media have reacted to the death of former President Muhammadu Buhari.
DAILY POST had earlier reported that Buhari died at a London clinic, where he was receiving treatment for an undisclosed illness, at 4:30 pm on Sunday.
The former Nigerian leader will be buried in his hometown of Daura, Katsina State, on Monday.
Buhari’s former media spokesman, Garba Shehu, disclosed this via X on Sunday.
Meanwhile, President Bola Tinubu, who mourned the passing of his predecessor, has dispatched Vice President Kashim Shettima to London.
Reacting to the sad news, some Nigerians expressed shock and sorrow, while others prayed for his soul to rest in paradise.
Here are some comments gathered by DAILY POST on X:
@ProfIsaPantami: “Inna lil laahi wa inna ilaihi raaji’un! The eyes shed tears, and the heart is grieved, but we do not say anything except what pleases our Lord. O Baba Buhari, we are grieved by your separation.
May Allah forgive his shortcomings and admit him into Jannatul Firdaus.”
@AbbaM_Abiyos: “forgive you Baba Buhari. May your soul rest in Paradise. AMEEEN.”
@B_ELRUFAI: “Inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi raji’un. May Allah SWT bless the soul of President Muhammadu Buhari. Shock, pain and very sad. Allah ya jikan Baba.”
@el_uthmaan: “We all know Buhari meant well for this country and had good intentions for Nigeria and its people. His integrity is unquestionable, which is why we call him ‘Mai Gaskiya.’ Like any human, he has his shortcomings, but Buhari has no record of womanising, smoking, drinking.”
@Waspapping: “Death doesn’t discriminate — rich or poor, known or unknown, we all get our turn. Death remains undefeated. RIP Baba Buhari.”
@Nig_Farmer: “Beautiful stories to tell about him. No human is perfect, we all have our faults. Buhari achieved a lot as human and would be remembered for greatness. I pray God gives the family the fortitude to bear the loss. Adieu, Baba Buhari.”
@EngrBababe: “We are all mortals and death we shall taste when the time is due. May Allah SWT forgive you and grant you Jannatul Fir’daus, Baba Buhari. Ameen thumma ameen.”
@senatorbash: “This life is fickle.
I have forgiven you, my President. Rest in Jannatul Firdaus, Baba Buhari.”
@Baffffa: “History Will never forget you Legends (Baba Buhari and Yar’adua), May Allah forgive your shortcomings.”
@adex_smithjr: “For those of you mocking Baba Buhari’s death.
General Muhammadu Buhari is old already, he’s resting in power, you can’t mock his death, he grew old enough.
But as for you who’s barely 40 years of age. What are the guarantees that you grow as old as Baba Buhari?”
@PastorMarvy: “I will never forget President Muhammadu Buhari. Gave his all for Nigeria both as a military head of state and civilian president. RIP Sai Baba, Sai Buhari.”
@amicablu: “The fact that President Muhammadu Buhari wished this country well cannot be denied. Rest in peace, Sai Baba.”
