The Executive Director, Nigerian Stored Products Research Institute, Professor Lateef Sanni, has attributed post-harvest losses to latest increase in the price of agricultural commodities across the country.
Professor Sanni disclosed this during the opening ceremony at a five-day capacity training on Skill Acquisition for National Youth Service Corps members on value addition to agricultural commodities in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.
Professor Lateef Sanni in his remarks said the training program on skill acquisition for the selected fifty corps members will help sharpen the skills of the participants on value addition to agricultural commodities with further potentials to creating jobs.
Representative of the NYSC Coordinator in Kwara State, Omolabake Adeniyi said beneficiaries of the program have been well trained in various skill acquisition contents, assuring participants that the capacity training will be an added advantage.
The fifty selected corps members are expected to share knowledge gained with colleagues for wider impact in the agricultural value chain.
