Osun Govt; Opposition APC in War of Words over LG Allocation

Former local government chairmen elected under the All Progressives Congress in 2022 have accused the Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke of spending federal allocations meant for local governments in the state, amounting to 183 Billion Naira

The chairmen, who were removed from office by the Federal High Court sitting in Osogbo addressed a press conference in Osogbo.

The former local government APC chairmen are alleging that Adeleke violated the 1999 Constitution and disregarded the Supreme Court judgment on local government autonomy by withholding the federal allocations of local government.

But in a quick response, the Commissioner for local government and Chieftaincy Affairs Dosu Babatunde described the accusations made by the former chairmen as mischievous and misleading noting that Governor Adeleke has been prudent in managing state finances

He clarified that allegations of financial mismanagement under Governor Adeleke’s administration are baseless.

Dosu Babatunde stated that Osun State Government has taken significant steps towards fiscal accountability and transparency.
