Claimants to People’s Democratic Party’s (PDP) national secretary position, Sen. Samuel Anyanwu and Sunday Udeh-Okoye are at loggerheads over the postponement of the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting.
While Udeh-Okoye, in a special announcement he signed, postponed the NEC meeting, which was earlier scheduled for March 13, 2025, to May 15, 2025, Senator Anyanwu advised the party leaders, NEC members, Board of Trustees (BoT) and the party’s Governors’ Forum and the general public to disregard the purported letter, insisting that it is from a non-official and an unauthoritative source.
The postponement, according to the special announcement signed by Udeh-Okoye, was done after due consultation with leaders, stakeholders and relevant organs of the party including the BoT, the PDP Governors’ Forum and the PDP National Assembly caucus.

However, Senator Anyanwu in a swift reaction warned that Udeh-Okoye should be aware that he is under a restraining order of a court of competent jurisdiction to stop parading himself as the national secretary of PDP pending the determination of the appeal lying before the apex court of the nation.
Meanwhile, the Supreme Court is expected to hear, this Monday, March 10, the appeal filed by the embattled National Secretary of the party, Samuel Anyanwu challenging the decision of the Court of Appeal, Enugu Division, delivered on December 20, 2024, that affirmed the judgment of the High Court, which removed Anyanwu from office as the PDP National Secretary and recognized Sunday Ude-Okoye as the rightful person for that position.
