PENGASSAN Confirms Port Harcourt Refinery Working

The Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association, PENGASSAN has confirmed that the Port Harcourt Refinery is processing petrol, diesel oil, and kerosine.

PENGASSAN President Festus Osifo gave the confirmation during a briefing in Abuja on Tuesday, where he said PENGASSAN and the National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas NUPENG are part of the steering committee for the rehabilitation of the refinery.

Osifo called on the government to privatize the Port Harcourt, Warri, and Kaduna refineries, using the Liquified Natural Gas Model. He however insisted the refineries must first be rehabilitated as done with the Port Harcourt refinery.

On the controversial Tax Reform Bill, Osifo commended the proposed legislation but warned of consequences if it led to job losses in the oil and gas sector.

A minute’s silence was observed for the four PENGASSAN Members who died in a helicopter mishap in Port Harcourt two months ago.

Osifo said PENGASSAN is part of the investigation of what led to the accident.
