A tanker conveying petrol has exploded at the Dikko junction around the Abuja-Kaduna Expressway, resulting in the death of scores of persons and burning an unspecified number of others.
According to eyewitness accounts, the explosion occurred Saturday morning when some residents of the area went to scoop content from the fallen tanker with scores of them burnt to death, while several others sustained various degrees of injuries

This tanker explosion is coming barely four months after a similar incident occurred on the Agaie-Lapai Road also in Niger State in September 2024, where 59 persons lost their lives.

AIT.live gathered that the same incident also occurred at the Dikko junction in August 2019, where five persons lost their lives while over 10 others sustained injuries.
Relevant officials, when contacted, promised to revert as soon as possible, saying they had commenced investigations to ascertain the real cause of the recent incident.
