Pipeline explosion in Rivers State after militants threat

A section of the 28-inch Trans Niger DeltaThe Pipeline, a federal transport line to Bonny by Julius Berger junction in Bodo, Gokana LGA of Rivers state is currently on fire following an alleged explosion that rocked the facility.

Though the cause of the explosion has not been confirmed by relevant authorities, a video clip obtained by AIT.live indicates that residents of the area are not happy with the latest development, which is happening at a time, there is clamour for resumption of oil exploration in the area.

Bodo community is one of the worst impacted oil spillage areas in Ogoni land that even led to the United Nations Environmental Report, UNEP, report for the clean up of impacted areas.

The explosion reportedly occurred in the early hours of Tuesday morning along Area One of pipeline that transports crude to the Bonny Terminal.
