Confirming the incident to AIT, the command’s spokesperson, Henry Okoye, said there were no casualties, and an investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the blast.
He said residents reported that a suspected drone was seen hovering over Umuneke in Obazu Mbieri and neighbouring Umunjam and Amaulu in Ihitte Mbieri Autonomous Communities.
Okoye further stated that the state Deputy Commissioner of Police, along with the command’s Anti-Bomb Squad, had visited the scene to ensure the area was cleared of any remaining explosives.
