Police in Edo pledge continued clampdown on illegal arms, ammunition

Edo State Police Commissioner Nemi Edwin- Iwo says his command remains resolved to mopping up arms used to perpetrate crimes in the state.

The Commissioner,in a statement made available to journalists said it became necessary to reassure the public of the Command’s commitment to maintaining law and order while insisting on the command’s zero tolerance for the illegal bearing of firearms by any group or person.

He highlighted the recent arrest of some persons caught with unauthorized firearms in the state, including thirty two year old Friday Peter at Irue community in Ehor, headquarters of Uhuwnonde local government area of the state and two others, Gabriel City and Charles Aikhionbare who were arrested with one locally made revolver gun and two single barrel guns during a raid on an initiation ceremony of a cult group at Egbire Community, off Airport road in Benin City.
