The Nigeria Police has launched the Schools Protection Squad, aimed at improving safety and reducing social vices within public schools across the country.
The recent rise In the abduction of school chicken by armed men particularly in the north of the country has raised serious concerns for both government and the general public.
Speakers at the event in Awka the Anambra State Capital, took turns to analyse the degree of insecurity in the country and called for improved collaboration anong all security agencies, community leaders, religious heads and the general public.
Training and retaining of the members of the Schools Protection Squad, more enlightenment for members of the public and all relevant bodies were also emphasized as key to improving security for students, educators and the society at large.
The two-day stakeholders forum has the theme: ‘Strengthening security resilience and integration of host communities in the protection of education’
