Qatar summons Iranian Ambassador after missile strike on US base

Qatar has summoned Iran’s ambassador in Doha following Tehran’s ballistic missile strike on the Al Udeid Air Base, a key US military installation on Qatari soil, in retaliation for American strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities.
Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a statement released late Monday, expressed its “strong condemnation” of the Iranian attack and warned that the country “retains the right to respond to this egregious violation” of its sovereignty.
The ministry called in the Iranian envoy to deliver a formal protest, stating that the missile strike, despite causing no casualties, was a “blatant breach of Qatar’s territorial integrity” and a dangerous escalation in the region.
The unprecedented attack marked the first time Iran had directly targeted the US presence in Qatar, drawing widespread international condemnation and raising concerns about broader regional stability.
Qatar has long maintained diplomatic ties with both Iran and the United States, often acting as a neutral mediator in Middle East conflicts.
However, this latest development has strained relations, even as Qatar played a key role in brokering the recently announced ceasefire between Iran and Israel.
The Qatari government reiterated its commitment to dialogue and regional de-escalation but said it expects accountability from Tehran in the wake of the incident.
