Real Madrid have suffered a fresh injury blow following their UEFA Champions League Round of 16 second-leg victory over Atletico Madrid on Wednesday.
Los Blancos confirmed in a statement via their website on Thursday that defender Ferland Mendy has been diagnosed with a hamstring injury.
Mendy sustained the injury during Real Madrid’s Champions League win over Atletico.
The 29-year-old was replaced by Fran Garcia during the match.
He could be sidelined for up to a month for Carlo Ancelotti’s side.
“Following tests carried out on Ferland Mendy today by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with a hamstring injury in his left leg.
“His recovery will be assessed,” Real Madrid’s statement read.
Real Madrid’s next match is against Villarreal this weekend.
